Lucy Fay is a specialist maternity photographer in Buxton. Her warm, studio sessions focus on timeless bump photography—relaxed, natural portraits that can include partners and children.
I’m Lucy, a specialist maternity photographer based in Buxton with a deep love for capturing the quiet, powerful beauty of pregnancy. Photography has been my life since college and, after launching Lucy Fay Photography in 2010, I’ve focused on creating calm, confident portrait sessions that let expecting mothers feel celebrated and relaxed. My approach is personal and gentle — I work with each mum-to-be to create images that feel authentic, timeless and utterly you. My maternity sessions are studio-led and designed around comfort and style. I use simple, elegant backdrops and a selection of props and wraps to sculpt flattering light and highlight the shape of your bump. Whether you prefer natural, minimal portraits or softly styled, editorial looks, I guide poses and messaging so the session feels easy and natural — even if you haven’t been in front of a camera before. Many clients like to include their partner or children in their maternity photos, and I welcome that. I’m experienced at making family-inclusive maternity portraits feel relaxed and connected, capturing the small, candid moments as well as the posed images you’ll cherish for years. My studio sessions are relaxed and unhurried so we can capture both composed portraits and softer, emotional moments. Working with me is collaborative. Before your session I’ll chat with you about styling, colours and any ideas you love. On the day I’ll take the lead with lighting and posing while keeping the atmosphere friendly and calm. After the session I’ll personally guide you through selecting your favourite images and choosing the best way to display them in your home — I want your photographs to be treasured, not forgotten in a folder. If you’re expecting and want maternity portraits that feel real, elegant and made just for you, I’d love to meet you in my Buxton studio. My aim is simple: to create images that capture this once-in-a-lifetime chapter with warmth, style and care.
