Hi, I’m Ian Spencer — a specialist in maternity photography based in Kingston upon Hull, working across Hull, Hessle and East Yorkshire. For more than three decades I’ve photographed bumps and babies, and there’s still nothing I enjoy more than recording the quiet, powerful beauty of pregnancy. I believe maternity portraits should feel honest and timeless: showing the connection between you, your bump and your family rather than forced poses. How I work with expecting mothers: we start with a quick chat so I can understand what you want from your session — outfits, locations and any special ideas. On the day I’ll guide you through simple, flattering poses and encourage natural movement so we capture authentic moments as well as a few more posed portraits. I’m used to working with different lighting, clothes and moods; the goal is photos you’ll be proud to display and return to for years. My experience in portrait photography — honed over 30+ years — means I pay attention to small things: how light falls, how hands rest, the gentle curves that make maternity portraits so emotive.
