Hi — I’m Sara, the photographer behind Rocking Horse Photography, and I specialise in maternity photography from my purpose-built Limehouse studio on the border of East London. I love creating timeless, elegant pregnancy portraits that celebrate this brief, beautiful chapter of your life. My approach is both stylised and sensitive: whether you want a dramatic studio shoot with flowing gowns and skin-on-skin portraits, or a more relaxed outdoors session in Victoria Park, I shape each shoot around you. I’m meticulous about light, composition and pose — but my favourite part of the job is helping expectant mothers feel calm and confident in front of the camera. My studio is warm and comfortable, with a selection of maternity gowns, flowing fabrics and simple backdrops chosen to create classic images that will age beautifully. How I work: we begin with a friendly conversation about what you love — where you might hang the pictures at home, colours you prefer and whether you’d like partner or sibling portraits. I guide outfit choices so everything sits harmoniously in your final wall art or album. On the day I gently direct poses to elongate limbs, emphasise the bump and capture natural connection, while also leaving space for candid, intimate moments. For outdoors shoots I plan locations and timing to make the most of natural light and the seasonal character of Victoria Park. What makes my sessions different is the combination of technical skill, attention to detail and a relaxed, personal experience. Families often tell me they feel comfortable and at ease — even if they’re camera shy — and that the resulting portraits feel genuine and timeless.
